SPARC is a growing Boston-area architecture and interiors studio working across mixed-use, multifamily, hospitality, workplace and adaptive reuse. We pair thoughtful design with practical problem-solving, in a professionally playful studio where people exchange ideas and work closely with our principals.

Bring the judgment that turns a strong idea into a well-resolved place. This senior role offers an architecture or interiors focus, with responsibility for design quality, technical decisions and mentoring. You will work with our principals and project managers while remaining closely involved in the work itself.

What you will do:

·    Guide projects from concept through construction, connecting the design story to materials, details and the experience of the space.

·    Lead reviews of drawings and specifications; resolve coordination issues and explain options to clients and consultants.

·    Architecture focus: guide building planning, envelopes, code analysis and integration of structural and building systems.

·    Interiors focus: guide programming, space planning, finishes, lighting coordination and furniture, fixtures and equipment selection and specifications.

·    Support construction-phase decisions through submittal and RFI review, site observations and clear documentation.

·    Mentor colleagues, lead design discussions and help project managers plan realistic effort and milestones.

What you will bring

·    Typically 10+ years of relevant experience, with a portfolio demonstrating design judgment and built project delivery.

·    Architecture: professional architecture degree or accepted equivalent pathway. For the Architect position, Massachusetts registration is required, or the ability to obtain it before appointment under that title.

·    Interiors: degree in interior design, interior architecture or equivalent relevant preparation; NCIDQ certification preferred. An architecture license is not required for the interiors role.

·    Strong Revit and Bluebeam skills; clear visual communication using Adobe Creative Cloud, SketchUp or Rhino. Sustainability credentials are welcome.

What you will do

·    Develop coordinated plans, sections, elevations and details for assigned portions of architecture or interiors projects.

·    Architecture focus: resolve building layouts, envelope details and consultant interfaces under the project architect’s direction.

·    Interiors focus: develop space plans, reflected ceiling plans, millwork details, finish schedules and FF&E packages.

·    Research products and building requirements; compare options for performance, accessibility, budget and design quality.

·    Coordinate directly with consultants and vendors on assigned issues; track open questions and review comments.

·    Support client presentations and construction administration, and guide less experienced colleagues on defined tasks.

What you will bring

·    Typically 6+ years of relevant experience, including independent responsibility for substantial project components.

·    Architecture: professional degree or accepted equivalent pathway. For the Architect position, Massachusetts registration is required, or the ability to obtain it before appointment under that title.

·    Interiors: degree in interior design, interior architecture or equivalent preparation; NCIDQ certification or progress toward it is preferred.

·    Strong Revit and Bluebeam skills; a portfolio showing design development and technical work. Clear communication and reliable task planning are essential.

At SPARC, you will contribute ideas, develop drawings and learn how decisions hold up through coordination and construction. You will take responsibility for defined assignments with regular guidance from experienced teammates.

What you will do

·    Translate approved concepts into accurate plans, elevations, sections, schedules and presentation materials.

·    Architecture focus: develop layouts and typical details, and assist with building-system, code and accessibility coordination.

·    Interiors focus: develop space plans, finish selections, furniture layouts, schedules and interior details.

·    Research materials and products, compare options and document your recommendations for team review.

·    Incorporate consultant information and review comments; check your work before the next project milestone.

·    Join selected client meetings and site visits, and assist with RFIs, submittals and other construction-phase tasks.

What you will bring

·    Typically 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, with examples of both design and documentation work.

·    Architecture: professional degree or accepted equivalent pathway. For the Architect position, Massachusetts registration is required, or the ability to obtain it before appointment under that title.

·    Interiors: degree in interior design, interior architecture or equivalent preparation; interest in NCIDQ certification is welcome.

·    Practical Revit skills, familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Bluebeam, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly. SketchUp, Rhino or Enscape experience is a plus.
